Cabaret is a musical based on a 1951 play I Am a Camera, which was adapted from the novel Goodbye to Berlin, by Christopher Isherwood. Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, it is based in nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub and revolves around the English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with a young writer visiting the town.Overseeing the action is the Master of Ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub. The club serves as a metaphor for ominous political developments in late Weimar Germany. Friday May 15 2015, 8.00pm Read the programme.
